New Year 3
- Hope Sabbath School is an in depth interactive study of the word of God. This week's topic is enduring extreme suffering. We want to hear from people around the world. A donor couple sent a gift of $1,500 to bless the Hope Sabbath school ministry.
- Jonathan: Job was committed to God, and we see through the story that he was very committed to him daily for his children and for himself. Satan is there accusing God, accusing us, and he is the one attacking Haiti. Do they truly believe in you? Jonathan: It's a great controversy question in a bigger picture of who God is.
- How does Job respond to this extreme suffering? Even though job is suffering, God is suffering with him. Ultimately, we're going to see here through our lesson today, that extreme suffering is God going through that same process.
- We're going to go to the book of Genesis. If you could read Genesis, chapter 22, verses one and two. This is probably the time of the greatest suffering that Abraham endured. God made him wait several decades for a promised son. Now it seems like God is contradicting himself, asking him to sacrifice.
- Travis: How is Abraham responding to this call from God? Gladys: Abraham didn't know how God was going to solve the situation. Derek: Abraham totally surrendered his son to God. God allowed things to happen in our lives so we can be strengthened by his love.
- Even our brother Travis has also endured extreme suffering. Gladys: How could extreme suffering be a great study? Jason: The answer is the awareness that the Lord is by our side. Let's trust him today, even in the midst of our suffering and trials.
